Kanmu Village, Shangma Township, Fushun County, is located within the primary protection zone of Dahuofang Reservoir. Dahuofang Reservoir is an important water source for the Shenyang Economic Zone, and Kanmu Village is a pig breeding base. How can the contradiction between farmers“ livelihoods and environmental protection be resolved? By having farmers build four-in-one biogas digesters at home, they not only treat manure but also solve their own cooking needs. Villager Wang Fengjian told reporters that the government provides a subsidy of 1,200 yuan for building a biogas digester, and one feeding is enough for the family to use for one and a half years. Kanmu Village Party Secretary Zhao Xia introduced to reporters: ”The whole village has built 160 four-in-one biogas digesters and 56 manure storage tanks, and the collected manure is sent in a centralized manner to a nearby organic fertilizer plant."
This organic fertilizer plant is the bio-organic fertilizer processing company of Fushun Maoyuan Industrial Group, with an annual production capacity of 30,000 tons, capable of treating the manure of livestock and poultry raised by about 10,000 farming households upstream of the reservoir. It not only solves the problem of pollution to the surrounding environment caused by specialized breeding villages, but also promotes the development of the breeding industry. At the same time, it turns waste into treasure and produces bio-organic fertilizer suitable for green food production. Following the development approach of industrialization, the company also invested in the construction of a Maoyuan Rice Processing Plant with an annual processing capacity of 30,000 tons, specializing in the production of high-quality organic rice. It built a 30,000-mu organic rice base, thereby constructing an industrial chain of company plus farmers centered on organic products. It has formed a circular agriculture development model of breeding - organic fertilizer - organic crop planting - organic agricultural product processing. It has realized a virtuous cycle in agricultural and livestock production and effectively alleviated the non-point source pollution problem around Dahuofang Reservoir.
Liaoning Wulanshan Biotechnology Company, located in Shuiquan Town, Taiping Town, Fuxin City, can treat 200,000 tons of livestock and poultry manure annually, turning manure into high-content organic fertilizer and returning it to agricultural planting. It is a pilot unit for circular economy in Liaoning Province. Organic fertilizer not only solves the pollution problems caused by manure to local air, water sources, and the environment, but can also increase soil organic matter content by more than 0.21%, reduce the degree of damage to soil structure caused by the heavy application of chemical fertilizers, and improve soil hardening. Wulanshan Biotechnology Company has realized a circular economy development model from livestock and poultry breeding - manure treatment - crop planting - grain and straw utilization - feed production - livestock and poultry breeding.
Liaoning Green Fangshan Organic Food Company has built a 30,000-mu high-yield organic peanut demonstration base in Heishan County, which can increase yield by 100 kilograms per mu and drive more than 50,000 surrounding farming households to increase their economic income. At the same time, in the production process of organic food, the use of pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and biological regulators is rejected, and the use of farmyard manure, compost, green manure, and straw return to the field is advocated, greatly improving soil structure, increasing the content of organic matter in the soil, and also reducing pollution to groundwater, thereby protecting the environment.
Xinzhan Village, Shuangyang Town, Linghai City, invested 1.8 million yuan to build a straw gasification station, which can convert various crop straws into high-quality, clean, and efficient gas that can completely replace liquefied gas and natural gas. A total of 502 households in the village have been connected to the gasification station pipeline network, accounting for 82% of the total households in the village, realizing the villagers“ wish of ”only smelling the aroma of meals, without seeing cooking smoke rise.“ Villager Xu Qiang built a biogas digester at home, with the pigsty and greenhouse connected to the biogas digester, using pig manure to produce biogas, and the biogas slurry can also be used as fertilizer for greenhouse peaches, forming a civilized ecological model integrating ”biogas - breeding - fertilizer," with one greenhouse earning 20,000 yuan a year.
Gongguan Village, Wofenggou Township, Fuxin County, built a “biological bed” pig breeding community in 2009, with an annual output of more than 1,300 head. Rice husks and other raw materials are used to lay the fermentation bed, making the entire production process zero-discharge to the outside. All manure is decomposed by microorganisms in the fermentation bed through metabolism. Because there is no need to wash the pig house, only drinking water needed for the normal growth of piglets must be ensured. This alone can save more than 90% of water, and it also saves materials and labor, increasing the economic benefits of breeders.
Up to now, 200 provincial-level comprehensive environmental improvement demonstration villages in Liaoning Province have fully completed their improvement tasks as planned. Over three years, a total of 144 various livestock and poultry pollution treatment projects have been built. A “three-in-one” technology for mixed fermentation of livestock and poultry manure, rural garbage, and sludge has been developed to simultaneously solve the pollution problems of rural breeding, domestic life, and sludge from small and medium-sized urban sewage treatment plants. In terms of the circular utilization of agricultural solid waste, in combination with the characteristics of the northern region, a comprehensive utilization system for solid waste such as straw-to-gas production has been built, and 253 straw gasification stations have been completed in the province.
