Shanghai port strengthens verification of imported organic products

In order to implement the new regulations on organic product certification that took effect on July 1 of this year, the Shanghai Inspection and Quarantine Bureau recently issued a notice to further strengthen the entry verification of imported organic products. In addition to the original requirement to verify certification certificates and certification mark labels, new provisions have been added for the verification of organic codes and sales certificates. Relevant inspection declaration information may only be released after it has been compared and found consistent with the information in the Food and Agricultural Products Certification Information System of the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People's Republic of China. For products whose packaging and labels contain words and marks such as “organic” or “ORGANIC” that are likely to mislead consumers, they must be imported as general products after being rectified and covered.
