On January 11, the Preparatory Meeting of the Organic Industry and Certification Professional Committee of the China Certification and Accreditation Association was held in Nanjing. More than 80 representatives from organic industry-related breeding and planting enterprises, production and processing enterprises, certification bodies, research institutions, service agencies, and local organic industry associations attended the meeting. In his speech, Zhu Guangpei pointed out that the establishment of the Organic Committee of the China Certification and Accreditation Association is a concrete measure to implement the spirit of the Party Central Committee and the State Council on accelerating the advancement of ecological civilization construction, building a quality power, rural revitalization, building a Healthy China, and building a Beautiful China. It reflects the general trend and meets the current development needs of the organic industry. The Organic Committee should give play to the bridging and linking role of a social organization, take certification as technical support, build an exchange platform for upstream and downstream enterprises in the organic industry, promote the high-quality development of the organic industry, and continuously enhance the Association's capacity and level in serving the country, society, the public, and the industry. Che Wenyi stated that the establishment of the Association's Organic Committee is a long-held aspiration of all relevant parties in the industry. He offered suggestions and expectations for the Organic Committee from aspects including strengthening international mutual recognition and research on domestic and international organic standards, combining organic certification with dual-carbon certification, and building an information-based platform. He said that the establishment of the Organic Committee will help promote collaborative and sustainable development of the industry. Wang Daning stated that the establishment of the Association's Organic Committee will promote the optimization and upgrading of the industrial chain, realize the sustainable development of the industry, inject new vitality and momentum into China's economic and social development, and make new contributions to promoting green agricultural development, increasing farmers“ incomes and helping them become prosperous, and enhancing the international competitiveness of the country's agricultural products. The work of the Organic Committee should serve the national ”dual carbon" strategy, study the role and cases of the organic industry in reducing emissions and sequestering carbon, and promote the superposition of the ecological and low-carbon functional value of organic products. Shi Xiaowei stated that one important purpose of establishing the Organic Committee is to implement the development concept of a Healthy China. From the perspective of people's livelihood, at the current stage the public needs high-quality and healthy products, and organic products are highly consistent with this attribute. The organic industry in developed countries has grown very rapidly and has great potential. After the establishment of the Certification and Accreditation Administration, extensive international exchanges on organic certification were carried out. After the establishment of the Association's Organic Committee, all participating parties should make good use of this platform, unite and collaborate for development, and share development achievements. Representatives at the meeting expressed one after another that China has long lacked a nationwide organic industry organization, and that the establishment of the Organic Committee by the China Certification and Accreditation Association precisely meets the needs of the industry and closely follows the national strategy, and that they will actively join the Committee. The representatives spoke enthusiastically at the meeting and offered suggestions and advice for the preparation of the Organic Committee and its work after establishment. The meeting discussed the preparation plan, working methods, and rules of procedure of the Organic Committee, further clarified the Committee's positioning, service targets, development direction, and specific work tasks, and will formulate the Committee's working methods and work content from aspects including policy and theoretical research, promoting international mutual recognition, serving the dual-carbon strategy, standard formulation and application, talent cultivation, consumer education, brand promotion, commercial services, and information-based construction.
