The white paper pointed out that the organic industry is an emerging industry with broad development prospects and is an important pathway for developing modern agriculture, advancing ecological civilization construction, and achieving harmony between humanity and nature as well as sustainable development. Over the past more than 20 years, China's organic industry has developed rapidly, providing consumers with a large amount of high-quality, safe, and healthy food and agricultural products, reducing pollution of the ecological environment and consumption of non-renewable resources, increasing farmers' incomes, and achieving sound economic benefits and social and ecological benefits. By the end of 2013, China had a total certified organic production area of 2.722 million hectares, 7,894 organic product production enterprises, 6,628 organic production bases, and 3,910 organic processing plants. Organic products covered four major categories: plant, animal, aquatic, and processed products, and approximately 10,000 organic product certification certificates had been issued cumulatively. At the event site, the new media platform for organic product certification - the “Organic Micro Life” mobile client and WeChat platform - was officially launched. This application is aimed at the increasingly large mobile terminal user group and publishes authoritative information on organic products.
