On August 7, 2024, the European Commission issued Regulation (EU) 2024/2140, amending and updating (EU) 2021/1378. This revision updates the list of certification bodies recognized by the new EU regulations that are authorized to conduct organic certification activities in third countries under (EU) 2018/848. IBD has been included in this list. Countries approved for IBD certification include Brazil, China, Russia, Mongolia, and others. IBD will continue to conduct organic certification in these countries in accordance with EU Regulation (EU) 2018/848, and certified products can continue to use the EU organic certification logo and be exported to EU member states. The new EU Regulation (EU) 2018/848, the latest organic regulation in the EU, officially came into effect within the EU on January 1, 2022, with a transition period set until December 31, 2024. As the earliest and largest renowned organic product certification body in Latin America, IBD has received approval under the new EU standards from the European Commission, maintaining its qualification as a third-country certification body outside the EU. As IBD's partner in mainland China and surrounding countries and regions, FOFCC will actively cooperate with IBD in carrying out certification work under the new EU Regulation (EU) 2018/848. With the upcoming implementation of the EU Deforestation-Free Regulation (EUDR) next year, new challenges are posed for organic soybeans and their products exported to the EU. IBD is actively revising relevant certification rules and will integrate EUDR requirements into the certification process under EU Regulation (EU) 2018/848 to ensure the continuous and stable export of Chinese organic soybeans and products to the EU.
