On August 7, 2024, the European Commission published Regulation (EU) 2024/2140, amending and updating Regulation (EU) 2021/1378. This amendment updates the list of certification bodies recognized under the new EU rules to carry out organic certification activities in third countries in accordance with (EU) 2018/848, and IBD has been included in this list. The countries authorized for certification by IBD include: Brazil, China, Russia, Mongolia, etc. IBD will continue to carry out organic certification in these countries in accordance with EU Regulation (EU) 2018/848, and certified products may continue to bear the EU organic logo and be exported to EU member states. The new EU Regulation (EU) 2018/848 is the latest EU organic regulation, which officially entered into force within the EU on January 1, 2022, with a transition period set until December 31, 2024. As the earliest and largest well-known organic product certification body in Latin America, IBD has obtained approval under the new standards of the European Commission and continues to maintain its qualification as a certification body in third countries outside the EU. As IBD's partner in mainland China and surrounding countries and regions, FOFCC will actively cooperate with IBD in carrying out certification work under the new EU Regulation (EU) 2018/848. Regarding the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which is about to be implemented starting next year, new challenges have been raised for organic soybeans and their products exported to the EU. IBD is actively revising the relevant certification rules and will carry out related work in combination with EUDR requirements during the certification process under the EU (EU) 2018/848 organic regulation, ensuring that Chinese organic soybeans and products can continue to be exported to the EU in a sustained and stable manner.
