Source of risk: On 11 September 2015, the Tianjin Consumers“ Association published the ”Tianjin Consumers' Association Vegetable Comparative Testing Report", pointing out that chlorothalonil pesticide residues were detected in 9 of the organically certified vegetable samples. Risk analysis: The report mentions that “Guanghegu”, “Junjian”, “organic farm”, etc., lack producer names, making it impossible to determine their organic product certification qualifications. Furthermore, certified organic product enterprises and their certification bodies have reported that the Tianjin Consumers“ Association was unable to verify to them that the sampled products were produced by the aforementioned two enterprises, nor did it provide key evidence such as product organic codes. At the same time, some bodies have questioned whether the testing agency responsible for the tests—”Tianjin No. 4 Quality Supervision and Inspection Station"—possessed the qualifications to conduct fresh vegetable testing, and whether issues existed regarding sampling and testing procedures, such as whether enterprises were granted an opportunity for re-testing after the issuance of relevant test results concerning food safety items.文章源自FOFCC-http://fofcc.org.cn/en/11544/
Risk warning: Recommendations: 1. Consumers: Do not easily believe misleading propaganda from websites and supermarket staff, and be wary of the behaviour of unauthorised entities falsely claiming to have organic product certification. When purchasing organic products, consumers should pay attention to identifying whether the products feature the “three elements”, namely the national organic product certification mark, the name (logo) of the certification body, and the organic code. Consumers can also check whether the enterprise is certified and whether the certificate is valid through the “China Food and Agricultural Product Certification Information System” (website: food.cnca.cn), and verify the authenticity of the product using the organic code. 2. Regulatory authorities and certification bodies: Focus on violations such as the use of chlorothalonil in organic vegetables.
