China's organic product certification work was born in 1994. The Nanjing Environmental Protection Research Institute of the State Environmental Protection Administration, by drawing on and applying the certification standards and certification procedures of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) and those of Europe and the United States, pioneered China's organic product certification work. Sixteen years have passed since then, and China's organic product certification management system has basically taken shape, with the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People's Republic of China (CNCA) exercising centralized management over organic product certification work. The China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) is responsible for the accreditation and supervision of certification bodies. In addition, the state has also issued relevant laws and regulations on organic product certification. To this day, China's organic industry has basically taken shape. The area under organic agricultural production has reached 2 million hectares, accounting for 1.7% of the agricultural production area; the domestic trade volume of organic products has reached more than 1 billion RMB. At present, our company (FOFCC) has sent inspectors to Thailand to conduct certification of the applied-for rice planting base and processing plant. If certification is passed, genuine Thai organic rice will soon enter the Chinese market; in accordance with customer applications, our company also plans to go abroad this year to conduct certification of sugarcane and fruit planting bases and processing plants.
