At a large supermarket, law enforcement officers from the Shenyang Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision explained to reporters how to identify organic food labels.
A bag of ordinary rice, yet its packaging is printed with four different labels. It is difficult for ordinary consumers to understand their meanings, let alone choose the most cost-effective one.
In response to the current problem of chaotic labeling of food and agricultural products, the quality supervision department of Shenyang conducted a concentrated inspection of the food and agricultural product labels in 27 large, medium, and small supermarkets, shopping malls, and specialty stores for certified food across the city. The results showed that more than 30 percent of agricultural product labels had problems such as non-standard marks, fraudulent use of labels, and expired certificates.
Food packaging that had not obtained “Green Food” certification was also marked with the “Green Food” logo, and “Green Food” whose certification had expired was still using the “Green Food” logo... Yesterday, the quality supervision department found quite a few problems during its supervisory spot checks of Green Food.
A reporter found in a large supermarket that there were indeed quite a few foods bearing the words or logo of “Green Food” on their outer packaging, including milk, flour, condiments, rice, edible oil, meat products, tea, honey, and so on.
However, whether these Green Foods all live up to their name is not something that can be determined at a glance. Wang Tong'an, director of the Certification Supervision Division of the Shenyang Municipal Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision, introduced that each “Green Food” corresponds to a number, which can be checked on the website of the Green Food center. In addition, the information needs to be renewed on time (generally on a three-year cycle), otherwise it will expire and become invalid. Regarding the identification of Green Food labels, many consumers said that “generally I just look to see whether there is a label, and I do not dig deeply into the validity period of the label.”
It is not only “Green Food” labels that have many tricks. The reporter noted that organic cucumbers cost 9 yuan per jin, while ordinary cucumbers cost only 2.5 to 3 yuan per jin, a difference of about three times. Organic food is sold at such a high price that if consumers accidentally buy counterfeit products, they suffer a big loss.
During yesterday's inspection, law enforcement officers pointed to a bag of beautifully packaged rice and told reporters: “Look, it has an organic food mark printed on it, but there is no certification body marked next to it. This is clearly a non-standard label.” In addition, organic food is all certified with certificates. When consumers buy it in supermarkets, they can ask the supermarket for them. If they cannot be provided, it is best not to buy.
Director Wang Tong'an introduced that organic food has the highest environmental requirements among foods and requires reducing the pollution level of the planting environment for agricultural products to the minimum.
Director Wang reminded consumers that organic food is generally sold at dedicated counters, and in a prominent place at the counter there is a certification certificate issued by the State Environmental Protection Administration. In addition, organic food generally adopts a production model of company plus farmers, so its sales outlets are generally located in large shopping malls, supermarkets, specialty stores, and specialty counters. When you find that street vendors are also selling organic food, you must be on guard.บทความมาจากFOFCC-http://fofcc.org.cn/th/11282/
