The Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety of the European Commission is the department responsible for the EU's food safety and health policies, and is also responsible for supervising the implementation of relevant laws, thereby safeguarding agricultural food safety for EU consumers. For the first time, the European Commission dispatched an assessment team to conduct a supervisory assessment of IBD's certification activities in China. The assessment team selected one crop production unit and one processing plant for witnessed assessment. At the same time, the assessment team also randomly selected one certified organization for an unannounced inspection to be conducted by a FOFCC inspector, and witnessed the unannounced inspection. The two assessors witnessed the on-site inspection work of five FOFCC inspectors.บทความมาจากFOFCC-http://fofcc.org.cn/th/22489/
After traveling to Dalian and Chaoyang in Liaoning Province, the assessment team arrived in Shenyang on October 15, 2023, and conducted a four-day office assessment at the FOFCC office. During the office assessment, the assessment team conducted a comprehensive review of the working model between IBD and FOFCC, FOFCC staff's management of export certificates to the EU, the implementation of the European Commission's additional regulatory measures for Chinese enterprises, and the OFIS complaint handling process for organic products exported to the EU. They sampled and reviewed some certification files and interviewed IBD-FOFCC staff. Ultimately, the assessment team gave a positive evaluation of the certification activities of IBD and FOFCC, raised assessment findings regarding IBD's management procedures, and provided suggestions for improvement regarding the work of FOFCC inspectors.บทความมาจากFOFCC-http://fofcc.org.cn/th/22489/
Through this assessment, the IBD and FOFCC teams further deepened their understanding of the European Commission's regulatory policies for organic products, especially the European Commission's “zero tolerance” requirement for prohibited substances in organic products. Next, IBD and FOFCC will continue to adjust certification procedures in accordance with the requirements of the European Commission, successfully complete the transition to the new EU organic regulations within 2024, and continue to provide certification services for Chinese organic products exported to the EU.บทความมาจากFOFCC-http://fofcc.org.cn/th/22489/
