On October 14-15, 2010, the Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People's Republic of China (CNCA) organized a revision meeting for the Measures for the Administration of Organic Product Certification in Changsha. The Registration Department and Legal Department of the CNCA, entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureaus and quality and technical supervision bureaus of certain provinces and municipalities, the China Certification and Accreditation Association, the China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment, and 8 organic product certification bodies participated in the meeting. In his speech, Deputy Director Liu Xiande of the Registration Department of the CNCA pointed out that the Measures for the Administration of Organic Product Certification (Order No. 67 of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine, hereinafter referred to as the "Measures"), since its promulgation on November 5, 2004 and entry into force on April 1, 2005, has played an important role in the certification supervision of organic products in China and in improving the effectiveness of certification. This revision meeting was convened by the CNCA to make corresponding revisions to the Measures based on post-legislative assessment and relevant issues in organic product certification reflected by all sectors of society, with the purpose of summarizing work experience in recent years, drawing on good practices from abroad, and further improving the management of organic products in China. Deputy Division Chief Zhang Wei of the Legal Department of the CNCA introduced the legislation and departmental rules of the CNCA, and in particular introduced the basis and requirements for revising the Measures.
