Recently, quality and technology supervision bureaus and entry-exit inspection and quarantine bureaus in various provinces and cities have launched special supervision and inspections on organic products, focusing on the validity of certification for organic products sold in distribution sectors such as large shopping malls and supermarkets. They have focused on investigating and punishing illegal acts such as the counterfeiting and unauthorised use of certificate and labels, as well as the expired or out-of-scope use of certificate and labels, with an increased focus on the supervision of imported organic foods. Imported organic foods that have not obtained China's organic product certification, yet have packaging bearing the words “organic” or equivalent, violate the Administrative Measures for Organic Product Certification.
