In March 2011, the Biological Farmers of Australia (BFA) released the 2010 version of the Australian Certified Organic Standard (ACOS). This is an updated version following the release of the 2006 Australian Organic Standard. BFA will soon launch a consumer version of its new standards, which will set out the production priorities for individual organic products and product categories. It is claimed that this booklet will enable shoppers to understand the differences between organic and non-organic production simply by browsing—for example, by understanding the benefits of buying organic honey, meat or eggs over their non-organic counterparts—allowing them to make quick purchasing decisions.
