- The certified enterprise voluntarily surrenders certification (surrendered)
- Suspension by the U.S. official regulatory authority or the certification body (suspended)

Therefore, under the NOP system, there is no such concept as "a certificate valid for a certain number of years," nor is there any need to issue a "validity certificate." The Anniversary Date indicated on the certificate is the deadline for the certified organization to submit its Organic System Plan (OSP) and annual certification materials each year. - Before each year's Anniversary Date, proactively submit the updated OSP and annual certification materials to the certification body, and cooperate in completing the annual recertification inspection (including possible unannounced inspections).
- Self-check certificate status at any time: log into the USDA Organic Integrity Database (OID) to inquire 👉https://organic.ams.usda.gov/integrity/
- If termination of the certificate is needed, please formally submit a written application to surrender certification, to avoid certificate suspension caused by failure to cooperate with the annual review after the deadline.
- In scenarios such as export customs clearance or customer factory audits, if asked about the "certificate validity period," you may directly cite this clarification and § 205.404(d), or ask the other party to log into OID for verification.
