In 2020, the 27 EU Member States imported a total of 2.794 million tonnes of various organic products, which was a decrease of 1.9% compared to 2.849 million tonnes in 2019 (excluding imports from the UK). Bulk commodity imports accounted for 48%, showing a significant decrease compared to 53% in 2019. The Netherlands remains the largest importer of organic products in the EU, with nearly a third of organic products imported into the EU in 2020 coming through the Netherlands (31%), followed by Germany (18%), Belgium (11%) and France (10%). As can be seen from the export volumes of organic products from the top ten EU organic product import source countries in 2019 and 2020, China and Ukraine experienced the largest decreases in organic product export volumes, while Colombia and India saw the fastest growth in export volumes. Organic products exported from China continued to be dominated by crudely processed animal feed pressed oilcake products, with a total volume of 135,000 tonnes, accounting for 59% of China's total exports of organic products to the European Union, although the export volume in 2020 decreased by 47% compared to 2019.
