In order to ensure food safety and guarantee that the general public can enjoy a happy Spring Festival, the Liaoning Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau and the Dalian Municipal Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau recently carried out a unified joint inspection of the holiday market for certified food and agricultural products in all 10 districts, cities, and counties of the city. During this concentrated inspection, the Liaoning Inspection and Quarantine Bureau dispatched more than 20 person-times, and the Dalian Municipal Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau dispatched more than 60 person-times. A total of 10 supermarkets, 2 specialty stores, and 2 farmers“ markets were inspected. The inspection covered 124 batches of domestic organic products, 7 batches of imported organic products, 109 batches of green food, and 80 batches of pollution-free agricultural products, involving a total of 63 production enterprises; 60 other imported food products were also inspected. The main aspects inspected were as follows: (1) forgery, fraudulent use, illegal trading, or unauthorized transfer of certification certificates and certification marks; (2) use of certification marks on products beyond the product varieties permitted by the certification body's certification certificate; (3) use of certification marks beyond the validity period of the certification body's certification certificate; (4) failure to obtain organic product certification while labeling products or their packaging with ”organic product,“ ”organic conversion product,“ or simultaneously labeling them with terms such as ”pollution-free“ or ”pure natural“; (5) labeling organic conversion products or their packaging as organic products or with the organic product certification mark. A preliminary investigation identified 8 problematic products, mainly involving issues such as failure to pass organic product certification while labeling the outer packaging with misleading terms such as ”original ecology, mature, 100% pure natural," use of certification marks beyond the expiration date, and non-standard use of certification marks.
